11 o'clock

Well it’s 11 o’clock and I am writing reports.  The washing machine is on and I’ve chosen music to motivate.

In school we talk to children about knowing their audience when they are writing and this year I have started a class blog in order to give them a real audience and purpose.  I have to keep reminding myself who I am writing these reports for and who the audience is.  What do parents want to know, what will be of use to them and to the children?  It’s so easy to write a sentence full of jargon and national curriculum ‘sound bites’ but I know if it was my child I would want to sense that the teacher really knew my child and I am trying to focus on this as well as providing key information.

Oh yes – and not to use ‘copy and paste’!
